Checkmate—or rather, tic-tac-toe! In this impressive display of avian intelligence, a clever crow takes on a human opponent in a classic game of strategy. Using its beak to place red hearts while the human plays with white crosses, the bird not only follows the rules but actually wins by completing a perfect line of three. While the "realization" of winning is a fun bit of anthropomorphism, the skills on display are very real. Crows and other corvids are renowned for their problem-solving abilities, often comparable to those of a 7-year-old child. Through training and rewards, they can learn complex tasks, use tools, and even plan several steps ahead. This video is a fun and fascinating reminder that bird brains are capable of much more than we give them credit for—including beating us at our own games
