This video explains that the acceleration due to gravity on Earth is constant for all objects, regardless of their horizontal speed. Gravity acts only in the downward direction, causing objects to accelerate towards the Earth at approximately \(9.8\text{\ m/s}^{2}\).  Horizontal motion does not affect the vertical rate of fall.  If you drop an object and throw another one horizontally at the same time, they will hit the ground simultaneously.
