Rumi is trying to say that every choice we make in life stems from one of two operating systems: fear or love. When we move the way fear makes us move, our world shrinks. Fear tells us to play small, build walls, hesitate, protect our egos, and make decisions based on what we might lose. It forces us into a defensive posture where we are constantly running away from what we dread rather than running toward what we desire. Rumi is stepping in to offer a radical shift in alignment: “Move the way love makes you move.” Love’s movement is entirely different—it is expansive, bold, and open. Moving from love means acting out of passion, trust, and a desire to connect. It requires you to drop your armor, step forward even when you don’t have all the guarantees, and lead with your heart. Rumi is trying to remind you that while fear might keep you temporarily safe in a cage, only love has the power to set you free and push you toward your true potential.
