The 2005 Showtime documentary Reversal of Fortune followed Ted Rodrigue after filmmakers gave him $100,000 with no restrictions on how he could spend it.
Rather than making the money last, Ted quickly began spending heavily. One of his biggest purchases was a roughly $35,000 Dodge Ram, and he largely dismissed the financial guidance offered to him.
By the end of filming, his sisters estimated that less than $5,000 remained, though Ted declined to disclose exactly how much money he had left.
When Ted appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006, he revealed that the entire $100,000 was gone and that he had returned to homelessness.
